It is not often that we are presented an opportunity to truly make a difference in our community and the lives of others. This opportunity is knocking on the door of the home building community, its lenders, vendors, suppliers, sub-contractors and laborers.
Habitat for Humanity International is partnering with builders and manufacturers across the country for an event unprecedented in the history of affordable housing production - Building 1,000 homes in one week (5 Days)! The Habitat for Humanity Home Builders Blitz will take place across the country the week of June 5, 2006. American Dream Homes, Inc. has stepped forward and agreed to take part in the challenge and to be part of this historic event.
For over 25 years, Habitat for Humanity has helped low-income families reach their dreams of a place to call home. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat constructs and rehabilitates simple, decent homes with the help of the homeowner-partner families. Habitat houses are sold to these families at no profit and financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowner’s monthly mortgage payments are used to build even more Habitat homes. The Home Builders Blitz is both an enormous opportunity and challenge. Habitat for Humanity asks that builders donate their labor and seek donations of supplies. This model allows Habitat to keep its regular home-building efforts intact while bringing in new, highly skilled volunteers for the blitz, thus reaching more families in our community.
American Dream Homes, Inc. is the one and only homebuilder in the Kansas City Metro area participating in this groundbreaking event.
We need your HELP! We are asking our partners in the new home construction business to join us in making a dream home come true for a Kansas City family. The lot has been secured, the plan has been drawn, the permits are in place, now we need you to help with everything else that it takes to get from “start to finish” in the construction of this house in just 5 days! Whatever role you play in the home building business, we need your support in meeting our goal of building this home for as little as possible. We are challenging you to help us raise $200,000 in donations of material, labor and of course money, to cover the construction of two homes.
Blitz House. The house built during Home Builders Blitz week (located at 2537 Cissna, Kansas City, KS, view map) will require
approximately
$100,000 in labor and materials to complete construction in only 5 days. American Dream Homes has donated the lot. Our home building sponsors have donated their time, labor, and materials. Second House. After Home Builders Blitz week is complete, fundraising efforts will continue for the construction of a second house, right next door to the Blitz House. Your monetary donation will be applied toward the costs of this effort, also estimated at $100,000. Make a Donation.
Not a Giveaway. Habitat for Humanity is not a giveaway program. Homeowners make monthly mortgage payments which help repay the cost of their Habitat house and help finance the houses of others. Learn more about the process at Habitat's website.
